Do you ever get invited to parties where you don’t know anyone? Or you just know the host and no one else? It’s happened to us a couple of times as new neighbors have moved in. They want to have a party in their new house, but we’ve only met them once or twice and we don’t know their friends (usually from their old neighborhood). We always end up having a blast, but I never really know what to bring food wise. I mean, my friends don’t think twice if I bring chocolate cayenne cake, bourbon chocolate chip cookies or any other unorthodox flavor combination. They’re up for it. But when I want to make something I know everyone will like, I make these.
Simple. Classic. Mouthwateringly Delicious.
(Also, guaranteed to be a hit at your Memorial Day BBQ.)
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs, room temp
2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 3/4 cups chocolate chips, divided
Instructions
Melt butter in microwave safe bowl until melted. Let cool. Add brown sugar, vanilla and egg - mix well.
Combine flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda in a separate bowl. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients gradually. Blend well. Stir in 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips.
Pour into greased 9x13 pan and bake at 350 for about 25 minutes. Remove from oven and press remaining 1/4 cup chocolate chips on top of bars.
