Things I require in the morning (listed in order of importance):
1. Caffeine
2. Something sweet
3. Protein (I don’t really like this but my blood sugar goes wonky if I don’t have it)
With three kids I don’t always have time to make the coffee, eat something sweet and eat some protein, so the idea that I can combine all three into a blender and make something delicious is, like, revolutionary. I eat this smoothie almost every morning and, until now, it never really occurred to me to post it.
I can (and do) make this in my sleep. I’m pretty sure my blender turning on is the thing that actually wakes me up!
Ingredients
1 cup chilled coffee (I brew it in the Keurig the night before and just refrigerate so it's ready)
1 1/2 bananas, cut into chunks
1 cup plain Greek yogurt
1 tbsp ground flax seed
2 tsp honey or agave nectar
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp grated nutmeg
6 ice cubes
Instructions
Throw everything in a heavy-duty blender (one that can crush ice). Blend until smooth. Enjoy!
